Uterine prolapse – Definition

Uterine prolapse occurs when the uterus slips out of place and into the vaginal canal. The severity of uterine prolapse is defined as:

  • First degree (mild) — the cervix (the lower opening of the uterus into the vagina) protrudes into the lower third of the vagina
  • Second degree (moderate) — the cervix protrudes past the vaginal opening
  • Third degree (severe) — the entire uterus protrudes past the vaginal opening

Uterine cancer – Definition

Uterine cancer is a disease in which cancer cells grow in the uterus (womb).

The lower portion of the uterus, which is closest to the vagina, is called the cervix. When cancer develops in this portion, it is called cervical cancer.

Urethral syndrome is a term used to describe symptoms of urethritis, which does not have evidence of bacterial or viral infection. The urethra is the tube that carries urine out of the body from the bladder. Urethritis is an inflammation, infection, or irritation of the urethra. It is most commonly seen in women.
